We had a doctor's appointment this morning, which we nearly skipped. Oops! As we were laying in bed praying last night for our son, I found myself wondering just how big he is right now. Thanks to a brain that constantly makes strange links between things, I stopped John mid-sentence and nearly shouted, "We have a doctor's appointment in the morning!"
Everything went well this morning. I got the stamp of approval to fly as planned on Wednesday. I passed all my "tests" and everything appears to be developing normally with our baby boy. It was bittersweet wrapping things up with my doctor here, knowing that I may never see her again but appreciating all she did for us in such a special season of our lives. We said our farewells and promised to send photos once our little guy arrives. (Although she did tell John that Hagen "needed" him next year.. her son says he is the "best man." How cute. She later told us she hoped John would return with his "whole family.") And that is just what we are now... no longer just a couple, but a FAMILY.
As hard as it is to say good-byes here, I am also excited for the hellos on the other side. I am more than excited to meet with our doctor in the States, to be able to articulate questions and understand answers. It will be strange to go from having an ultrasound and a pelvic exam at every.single.appointment to a different approach to things in the States. One thing I have learned in this crazy lifestyle of mine... is to be flexible!
