Lessons Learned.

Wow. I haven't updated this blog in way too long. Not that anyone is actually reading it anyway, but I am bored on this dreary afternoon, so perhaps it would be a good time to come out of hiding. ;)

Things here in Poland have seemed to have done a 180 in the past month and a half. Three of John's teammates are now gone, his head coach and assistant coach are gone. And, we just found out last week that his third assistant coach, now head coach, will stay permanently in that position until the end of the season. As you can imagine, this has brought many changes. One being a new assistant coach with rumors of new players coming to the team as well.

It would be easy to get discouraged, and to only look in the past when everything seemed to be going right. But... thankfully our sense of who we are doesn't come from the world but rather from our Heavenly Father. He has given us a peace that passes all understanding and helps us keep it together even when times get tough.

Life, in many ways, is similar to the game of basketball I suppose. You never really know what lies ahead. One day you might feel on top of the world, and the next seemed to have hit rock bottom. But through it all, you become stronger as an individual and learn to rely on others for strength and guidance to get through the rough patches.

So, while it would be easy to become discouraged, I look at everything around me and am incredibly grateful for everything I have been blessed with. I am thankful for an amazing husband, a loving family... but most of all for God... for always loving me and never giving up on me.

I am learning (slowly but surely!) to live in the moment and not in the past or future. Each day is a gift, and I must appreciate every moment of it.
