Well, perhaps I should re-title our blog to "Life in America." For now, we are still in the States waiting on a job opportunity to come up for John. The economy has hit the basketball world, pretty hard. It is only natural, since most of the teams' budgets actually come from sponsors, not ticket sales or player marketing.
So... here we sit. On one hand, we are thankful for the extra time to settle into our new home and spend more time with family, and get more connected with our church family. On the other hand, we are both itching to get back overseas. John is getting tired of working out by himself, and is excited to play with teammates again!
In the next few posts I will try to do some updates from the summer. I keep procrastinating updates because I want to save them for when I am completely bored overseas. I may not be across the ocean, but I think the time has come to attempt to get back into some routine.
I hope everyone is enjoying the fall! (I must admit, when I am sipping a Caramel Apple Cider or a Pumpkin Spice Latte... I quickly go from wishing I were overseas to being thankful for the opportunity to enjoy an extended time in the States!)

Basketball/Life Update.
Well, John's team has advanced to the semi- finals! The first series, the quarter finals, was best out of five.... Turow was able to win the first three games! For those of you who didn't already know, John now has a mohawk. The entire team has one... I'll have to find some pictures to upload soon! It seemed really strange at first, but now I'm kind of getting used to it.
We had a fabulous Easter weekend. Our friend, Eta, celebrated a birthday on Saturday, so we were all at her place for an afternoon grill out. It was so nice to be able to relax outdoors and to inhale the smell of charcoal. :) Needless to say, it made me extremely excited for summer.... I'm trying trying really hard to live in the moment though and appreciate our days here! Yesterday we went to another player's house for a typical Brazilian style Easter lunch. It was delicious! We are so blessed to have such a great basketball "family" here.
The next round of play-offs doesn't start until April 19th. For those of you trying to keep up with it, here is the league's website. It is in Polish, but you should be able to figure out the scores at least.

I am ridiculous.
Dear family and friends,
Well, let it be known. I am ridiculous. I just spent at least an hour trying to come up with a clever name for our new blog, only to come up with the url: "tureks.blogspot.com" How original. I thought to myself, who is our audience? Well, probably just family and friends. What will they remember? Well, I suppose they will at least remember our last name. So, there is it. No more procrastination. I finally just did it. I entered the lame name for our blog and pressed "continue."
So, welcome. Welcome to our life. We haven't been great at updating you through e-mails, but hopefully we will do better at keeping up with you through this median. Sometimes life here seems to change daily. Other times it seems as though life here is just "normal," and it is easy to get caught up in day to day living without watching the world interact around us.
We (or rather I) will attempt to allow you to see this little slice of the world through our own eyes and experiences. Sometimes life here seems glamorous, other times it is intimidating, and yet in brief moments it seems overwhelming. For the most part though, we are truly enjoying the opportunity we have to adjust to new cultures while meeting people from all over the world. Indeed, we are blessed in our experiences.
Much love,
The Tureks ;)
P.S. My runner-up name was "lifeofabasketballwife". John thought it was lame. And, perhaps it was. Now that I think about it, it probably would have led readers to believe that I married a basketball.
